A Brief Personal History of Lower Sunbury Business Community - Laurie Maskall

I had moved my business from Sunbury Cross the The Avenue Parade and like so many others in the area I became firm friends with Albert Skinner the post master. In conversation we agreed it would be a good idea if all the local traders joined together in the interests of Lower Sunbury.

A meeting was held in my shop, to which a good number of traders were present. My idea was, primarily, to give something back to the community in return for making our livings from the residents and visitors. This would also be good advertising thus in turn increasing our trade. The opportunities for networking and business between members would follow. All this we had hoped for seems to have worked and continues to date. There have been changes of ownership, but no business failures, I feel this shows the valued service we provide to our community.
